Table It
An exploration in interactive spaces for the 2020 Portland Winter Lights Festival
SETI Art Hack: Portland Winter Lights Festival - Feb 8, 2020
I had always wanted to learn more about projection mapping. Plus I have a continual interest in novel interfaces: how might you interact with a digital experience through non-traditional means? Both of these desires, plus a phenomenal team of other artists and designers, combined in a really wonderful way, resulting in “Table It”.
Artists: Stephen Lee, Sparkman, Giannini Vargas, Mike Baran
Abstract Objects + Glyphs
A series of objects were created by Giannini Vargas, to evoke geometry, color and content. Using a web cam, a series of glyphs and a glass table, I wrote a Processing sketch to track the glyphs on the bottom of the objects and used their position to modify a series of effects.
Object Position + Processing + MadMapper = Wall Projection Magic
As people moved objects around the table, my Processing sketch triggered effects to modify the color composition, geometric shape overlay and video content of the projection.
